Steve Sledge : Wishing Well
"Now lemme tell ya ‘bout ol’ STEVE SLEDGE. He picked up that six-string when he was just 13, dig? His ears were wide open, takin’ in everything from The Beatles to American pop, and even a little Italian opera—yeah, that’s right. But what really got his mojo workin' was the sweet, soulful twang of Nashville’s country tunes. Come the early '80s, Sledge was tearin’ up stages all over Hamburg, layin' down some serious sound in places like the LOGO, Uncle Pö, and the Remter.
Then in 2004, ol’ Steve figured it was time to tighten up those pipes and get serious with his own tunes, so he built himself a studio. Fast forward to 2007, and Nashville came callin’. He got in the mix with the locals, rubbin’ shoulders with songwriters and producers. That's where he linked up with Grammy-nominated cat David Norris, and man, that lit a fire. They cranked out over 40 tunes across three albums, bringin' in players from the US and the UK to get the groove just right.
One of those songs, ‘CLOSER TO FOREVER,’ hit the big time on NDR2 as 'Song of the Week' back in '07. Then, by 2019, Steve teamed up with STRINGKILLER MUSIC, one of Hamburg’s finest, to get his tunes out to the world under the in-tune Records banner.
But hold up, you can’t miss his pop jam ‘I CAN BE A FREE BIRD,’ which dropped in October 2020. Steve cooked that one up with American songwriter Robert De Priest, and let me tell ya, it’s the kinda song that sticks with ya, a real foot-tapper.
And now, Steve’s latest masterpiece, his third album, ‘Good Time,’ hit the streets in November 2023. Before that, he laid down his first album ‘Wishing Well’ in 2021 and followed it up with ‘Somewhere in Sonora’ in 2022. Man’s been on a roll, crankin’ out the good stuff and keepin’ the vibes alive.
